Artist's Description

This shot, taken at street level, was taken a few minutes after we emerged from the Empire State Building.

It’s an interesting angle, because you can’t actually see the spire of the Empire State Building, which is in the bottom right corner of the frame. We were standing on the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 33rd Street. You can actually see the street sign in the top left corner, as well as the street lamp, directly aligned with the noonday summer sun.

To achieve this angle, I was shooting directly upwards, craning my neck and arching my back like Quasimodo in reverse!

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F11, 1/750 sec, ISO 200, focal length 18mm.
