No, this shot wasn’t taken in the 18th century. I took it this week (Easter 2010) as the replica of Captain Cook’s historic ship, the Endeavour, cast off and set sail into Sydney Harbour. 123 views on 5 March 2011.
It was just a fluke of timing, because I had walked towards the Australian Maritime Museum just as the vessel began casting off the ropes. The HMB (the B stands for barque) Endeavour is an amazing sight, especially as that magnificent timber hull is framed by modern buildings across the water.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 58mm.
