Artist's Description

The geometry and perspective of this shot appealed to me about six weeks ago (January 2010) while we were in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 367 views on 6 June 2011.

The red lanterns were hanging in front of The Pavilion, a major shopping mall on Bukit Bintang. But you see, the lanterns themselves were not the sole theme of what I was trying to convey.

So by standing amid the “red rain” of lanterns, I was able to include the convergence of architectural lines far above my head, as well as the perspective against the clear chessboard-like structure of the glass roof.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/125 sec, ISO 200, focal length 18mm.
