Artist's Description

All right, all you amazingly talented Red Bubble sleuths …. can you figure out where this portrait was shot?

Your time starts …. NOW!

Solved by Woodie in about 90 minutes. I thought we’d have to run the gamut of Indian cities first, but he was spot-on. Don’t read any further if you want to try solving this yourself.

As Woodie rightly guessed, this is the doorman at the historic Raffles Hotel in Singapore, named after the founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles. This was shot in mid-December 2007 – and if you look carefully, you can see Christmas light in soft focus on the top left-hand corner of the image.

I shot this with the doorman’s permission, firing off three frames while he was opening car doors, greeting people and generally being a great ambassador for the world-famous hotel.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/90 sec, ISO 400, focal length 68mm.

Featured in ISLANDS OF THE WORLD, February 2010.
