When you see a vivid pink bus, you have to stop immediately and get your camera out.
A couple of weeks ago, I was walking towards Southbank when I noticed this amazing bus. I grabbed the camera from around my neck when I realised it was heading towards Crown casino – and if I was quick enough, I’d be able to shoot a couple of frames.
At that point, I realised that the bus was actually the tour vehicle for “Buddy The Musical”, the latest theatrical production on the life of Buddy Holly – and that the personalised number plate actually proclaimed BHOLLY.
I shot about half a dozen frames behind, in front and at the side of the bus. And no, these two people are not painted on the side of the vehicle – they are two fans who rushed over while I was lining up this shot, waiting for a family member to shoot an image of them alongside Buddy Holly!
On another note, yes, it’s still six months away from the traditional decorative use of holly. But you have to remember that it’s still winter here, so if you’re going with the Christmas In July theme, there’s nothing better than some extra Holly!
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F9.5, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 45mm.
