Artist's Description

Triangles, rectangles, circles … this shot was taken under Melbourne’s Eureka Tower, the highest residential tower in the world.

It was just before dawn during the winter of 2007 when I noticed the street light reflected in the top right-hand quadrant of the symbols showing the parking lanes at Eureka.

Then, when I realised what an unusual angle this was, I reached for my camera. The huge sign, with its blue and red neon, is at an angle of about 45 degrees with the street below.

Shot without a tripod, using a Pentax K100D. This image is not cropped or post-edited in any way. Details: F5.6, 1/15 sec (without a tripod), ISO 800, focal length 78mm.

Featured in IT’S IN THE DETAIL, March 2010.
