Artist's Description

Sometimes roads give you images when and where you least expect them. (213 views on 8 August 2011.)

The weather was terrible when I shot this frame in beautiful Quebec City in September 2005. There were persistent showers, the sky was grey – but the conditions were just perfect for this shot.

This life-size figure of a full suit of armour was outside a store in the Lower City. Because of the dark sky above me, there was no sheen or reflection off the metal of the visor – so I was able to contort myself to get the knight in the foreground and Quebec City’s famous mural in the background.

It is a city I would love to return to, not just because of its amazing history, but because its many facets reflect the fact that it was given the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot on Kodak film with a Canon EOS 3000.
