Artist's Description

The Silverleaf Bahia, Bahia absinthifolia, is a member of the Sunflower family and grows wild along mesas and slopes from southeastern Arizona down to central Mexico.

Blossoms appear April through October and consist of 10 – 13 1/4 to 1/2" long rays around a dense 1/2 to 3/8" wide disc. Leaves are dark green, 1/2 to 2" long, lanceolate and covered with dense, flat lying hairs giving the leaves a grayish tone.

The Silverleaf Bahia create colorful contrasts along mountain roads through the Sonora desert and southeastern desert terrain.
