A Witch's Tale

Bear witness to my tale
from the dark sun arise the spell
Wordless in its actions
Countless infractions
bestowed upon her hell

A dark angel walks by
Alone her agony divine
A witch to be burned alive
Mercilessly cast aside
Begotten, left to die

A dark angel walks by
a tear nor fear she thus deny
To die in sin
for a godly deed
is hypocrisy
can’t you see?

Justice blinded by moral fabrication
bound to heartless superstition
A young girl becomes the devil’s child
Innocence no explanation for lustful transgression
Her only sin, imperfect humanity.

The dark angel
seared from billowing flames
screams a wordless declaration
Justice is just an illusion
for when god kills
where is the retribution?

Artist's Description

Current scholarly estimates of the number of people executed for witchcraft vary tremendously from the widely accepted scholarly estimates of between about 40,000 and 100,000 to some who argue as many as 9 million people died. Records are scarce. However, it is known that many of the victims were very young, often young girls.
