Reflection

I prayed things would be better
My prayers weren’t answered.
What was returned to me
Was more difficulties.

I stopped praying.
I stopped staring at the stars in the sky.
I gazed down at what was beneath me,
A reflection of myself.

All I could see in those eyes was hopelessness
Emptiness. The death of passion.
Someone doomed to fail forever
Tripping over their own morals
Tripping over the stones that were people she once loved
Not able to get up and balance herself on a single stone
To cross the water to the other side
To live life the way she should.
I saw someone I despised.

Beneath, beneath my feet, was indeed my reflection.
