Once known as simply the “old swimming hole”, this beautiful 2 acre (former) limestone quarry is encircled by sheer cliffs up to 40 feet high. And is the center attraction of the Elora Quarry Conservation Area. It was officially named a conservation area in 1976, but locals and tourists alike have been swimming there long before that.

This photo was taken on a beautiful, hot August afternoon in 2010 with a Canon 20d and a Tamron wide-angle lens. It was rendered in HDR using 3 exposures in Photomatix and post-processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. Significant airbrushing was done to hide the foliage that obstructed parts of the view.
