Artist's Description

An 1897 map by Millroy of the Klondyke Gold Fields.

Any trek to the Klondike Gold fields was fraught with danger and often led to Death. To minimize this outcome, this map was produced.

At the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, the entire lower 48 hungered for information from Alaska. Adventurers young and old needed information about the Gold strike.

This map gave the intrepid miner the key information they needed to know to keep them alive before embarking for Alaska.

Along the left side is a detailed primer on what to expect and what supplies to take. For example, in winter expect about 4 hours of sunshine with temperatures of 8 to 60 below zero at the gold fields.

No doubt, many miners had one of these jammed in a breast pocket for quick consultation.
