Artist's Description

I thought of this photo when I read about the shattered window challenge … and first wanted to call it Wabi Sabi but have another image that better fits that title. Hope to get around to posting it soon.

hakai no bi, is a Japanese word for the aesthetics of something broken or declining beauty … a dignified act of maturing with age and moving away from new or perfect condition …

Eastern cultures use so many words to describe aesthetics that we seldom even think of here in the west. Rustic is the only one I can think of at the moment that we might use to mean something similar, can you think of any others?

This photo was taken in Boca Raton, Florida at theTrain Musem
