Dead and Dreaming

“Cthulhu fhtagn.”

“Bless you.”

“No, Cthulhu. You know, the ancient God. Trapped under the ocean on Earth.”

“Nope. I don’t go to church.”

“They don’t teach about Cthulhu in church, you idiot. It’s secret knowledge.”

“And yet you know.”

“Well, I met this guy from Innsmouth once… but, look, there’s not enough time to explain it all.”

“How could God be trapped? Gods’ve got all the super magic powers to do whatever they like. Why couldn’t it just magic itself out?”

“Well, seems there were some people who knew a bit, and they knew spells to tie him down.”

“Convenient.”

“But, Cthulhu doesn’t really want Earth. It’s a multi-dimensional being. Why limit yourself to just one? It’ll leave. Fly away and terrorise some other planet.”

“Doesn’t seem like it’s terrorising THIS planet. Trapped under the ocean, remember?”

“Yeah, yeah. BUT… the evilness of Cthulhu radiates out and taints our whole world. Bad things happen, and people do bad things. It’s always been Cthulhu, since before people walked on the planet.”

“So why’s no-one seen it?”

“They have! There are religions, worshipers, writings.”

“Uh huh. Which channel do they preach from on Sundays?”

“No, it’s not like that!”

“Like what? Organised?”

“No. Public.”

“Tell me again why you’re hassling me?”

“ What has sunk may rise, my friend.”

“Really, did you have an abusive childhood?”

“It’s here. We’re here. Can’t you feel it?”

“Crap. I bet there’s no damn resort on this frigging island!”

“There is, of a fashion. Look down.”

“Yeah, that’s a cool rock.”

“No, it’s an ancient carving!”

“Couldn’t be. And I don’t care, so don’t bother arguing.”

“NO! Don’t throw it on the key! We’re not ready!”

“I’m going back to the boat for a beer. Keep screaming… I’ve had enough of your tricks! ….. Where’d everyone go?”

Artist's Description

Just a bit of fun :)

Gayla and Firedrake inspired some Cthulhu thinking with some of their comments :)

In case you hadn’t heard, Cthulhu lives in the writing of H.P. Lovecraft.
