The Gulf Oil Leak has been doused with chemical dispersants that now seems to have dispersed the oil to the bottom of the sea forming rivers of oil under the water. It's an apocalyptic catastrophe leaving this artist helpless a thousand miles to the north. I figure I can make art, and this drawing showed up this week in my sketchbook. It's about deep sea turtles who are known to live lives as long as humans, and some are said to mate with one partner during these human like lives for life. They are known to come up to the Gulf during their world wide travels in order to mate in the spawning grounds around Florida. Devastating consequences to so much life like this will now not be avoided. I was reminded of a quote from a Pink Floyd song while thinking of all this dispersed oil flowing across the ocean floor. I thought the drawing would make a cool t-shirt for environmentalists hopefully realizing there is so much more to fighting for an environmentally clean and sustainable world then the weather and a natural gas that plants breath.
