Artist's Description

Please view large. Day hike today Nov-06-2011. Visiting the Zugspitze Peak 2.962 m. Germany.
Nikon D3K, AF-S Nikkor 10-24 3.5-4.5 ED, at 12mm, t=1/200s, f/7.1, ISO100. RAW, HDR, developed in DxO, 3 shot -1.3, 0.0, +1.3, merged, and tonemapped, in Photomatix 3.2, PP in Elements 9.
The base of the lift is 35 minutes from our home, we live in this area. There is also a mountain train at the base. We took the train for climbing and the lift for the return. Zugspitze Massiv is the highest mountain of Germany.
It is part of the Mountain Wetterstein.
Wetterstein is part of European Alps.
Visibility today was 100 km, despite some clouds. So we could see up to Tirol in the background. Part of Mountain Wetterstein belongs to Tirol.
