Artist's Description

The Tuskegee airmen were African-American fighter pilots whose planes were identified by their red painted tails – they were called the Red Tailed Fighters; the Allies claimed they were Red Tailed Angels; the Axis respectfully cursed them as Red Tailed Devils. Sorry if I lack the room here to carry on about their exceptional combat record – I was looking for a way to include African-Americans in my nose art project that didn’t use the historic examples actually painted on the planes of the racially segregated United States Army Air Force, which started at offensive and went downhill from there. This was my solution.
