Little Brother...

The Phone Call

Having found you by a phone call, I send a message and wait,
Longing to hear my phone ring as it does I hesitate.
I slowly pick it up then hear your voice and I want to cry.
As I think of all the stolen years that have surely passed us by.

This is the moment that can make or break the deal,
Then three little words and our brother/sister bond feels so very real.
We share the same father, but each our own mother
Both bonded by the same Lupton blood “My Little Brother”.

You are such a fighter, loner and so totally carefree and wild.
I can be stubborn, boring, clinging and extremely mild.
Here, I sit in Arkansas anxious to talk to you each day.
Learning where you are in Texas earning your pay.

Such a connection, a true bond that we share,
Wanting to prove to you how very much I truly care.
You tell me you have tattoos, piercing and a mean spirit too.
I want you to know you’re not alone anymore—for big sisters you now have two.
You are an uncle to our children and a wonderful brother to both Stacy and I,
For if you weren’t in our lives I think we’d surely die.

No matter where you are I feel your energy near,
Your presence so strong and our bond so clear.
You seem to be primitive, instinctive and reliably true.
But the most fantastic thing is…
“You’re my little brother Heath and oh, how I do Love You!”
