Depression

I see that dog a sitting a little while away

I think for just a moment, he gets closer by the day

His black coat a gleaming, his teeth pointed & white

I wish I could just run from here be it day or be it night

But I can’t run or get away, I sink down to my feet

because ’tis I who is chained up and shackled to the beast

He is free to come and go, to torment or to scare,

And I am his to play with whenever he should care

Depression is a large black dog, he hunts and he ensnares

It’s a frightening time to be alone and stuck in my nightmares

I see a light, it’s far away, it never gets too near

because that dog he is possesive of my pain and of my fear
