Artist's Description

My boy came to visit last Thursday. Hadn’t seen him for too long a while. He came for lunch, just the two of us, such precious time together. I made potato salad and got fried chicken from the grocery store, and put on a batch of brownies so the house would smell good when he walked in. We talked about so many things, catching up. He brought me a bottle of wine and this little potted nosegay which I have put on my kitchen windowsill. They brighten my day while I put on the morning coffee.

I had actually taken a series of shots of this, and the view through the window of the neighbor’s house was distracting. But this morning, with condensation still on the window, I thought it made for a much better background.

Taken with Kodak 10.2mp digital SLR, processed in photoshop.

Dec. ‘11 update for submission to the Numbers group … this may be a stretch, but the glass hand is roughly posed in the ASL sign for the number 9 … and the letter f as well as the hand formation used to gesture kitty whiskers in the sign for cat, but we’re going for a numerical reference here, so 9 it is.
