Artist's Description

Who says phantoms can’t jive? This dancer on swing night at the casino in Gulfport, Florida, was gyrating so energetically, she blurred herself almost into invisibility, disappearing slowly like a Cheshire Cat. I used the blur, cropping and enhancing the picture to make it the main focus of the image.

I was briefly puzzled by the difference in the intensity in these two pictures. The fact that this one was taken months ago and Lesson taken only last night (Dec 19), doesn’t explain it. Then I realized. The Dance Lesson was shot (duh) during the dance lesson, when all the overhead lights in the casino are on. After the lesson, they dim the room for the regular dancing. The light from the chandeliers has more of a golden quality … less of the “operating room” aspect of the lighting for lessons.
