Artist's Description

I shot this picture nineteen years ago, at a company picnic. It was a lovely day at Hains Point in Washington, DC, and I have fond memories of enjoying some time away from the office with my coworkers. I have many happy scenes etched in my head from that day, but this particular picture will always remain a favorite. Two friends are playing a game of Chinese checkers, one who had never played before is being taught by the other.

I think this would be a wonderful subject for a painting, should someone gifted in oils or watercolor wish to consider taking it on. Unfortunately, I do not believe that person would be me.

Given the age of the photo, taken with my very first digital camera (the storage medium was a floppy disk, if you can believe it), and considering the poor initial resolution, there is considerable post processing here, including the removal of a chain-link fence that I thought added nothing to the ambience, I am not offering this for sale as anything more than a greeting card. Oh … well, maybe a matted print — but nothing larger.
