Artist's Description

Another nostalgic trip down memory lane. Pawing thru my photo archives, I ran across this picture taken just a bit past sunrise early one crisp November morning in 1999 during a walk on St. Pete beach with my cousin Cathy (the Aloha Cutie). It was a sad occasion, walking the beach that lovely day; we’d just left the hospital after the passing of our cousin (Billy) who was a darling man, dear to both of us. These two birds seemed to be following us, and I had an uncanny feeling that one of them was trying to tell us something. I’ve used this picture as a screensaver for years, and it has always provided me with a feeling of peace. I do know that our bodies are vehicles for our brief journey on earth and, when the vehicle ceases to function, the spirit is set free. Whether that spirit can manifest in various ways to people still mourning the loss of our physical form is something many doubt and many more are absolutely sure of. I am one of the latter. I always thought that one of these little guys here was Billy, telling us good-bye; perhaps the other was someone who had come to help him over.
