Istanbul is not just a city with a glorious past, but also a city of dynamic, vibrant present and, hopefully, bright future.
One of the symbols of modern Istanbul is the Bridge of Bosporus, connecting its two sides in Europe and Asia (in fact, there is one more bridge, higher up the Bosporus, but this is the “famous” one).
It was inaugurated in 1973 and its construction lasted about 3 years. It’s 1622m long, its height is 64 meters and it’s width 33,4 meters. The distance between the 2 columns is 1074 m.
