Occurrence © Emma Young 2014 Poem

Blue met green. Blonde met auburn.
We knew. It was there.
Elevated. Dilated.
No touch. Shared air.
Hundreds of witnesses, ignorant.
The page turned, you wrote.
Surroundings melted.
I force my throat to
Put a question.
‘You would have remembered’
He replies.
And with those eyes facades merge
And I see all the decency, talent, knowledge
Resisting, so awkward, the urge
To caress those cheek bones
Then moisten those lips.
And then, disappointingly
Just as I get to grips with being in such awe
I find our time has ended….
Sorry it was so brief.
