I am a botanist and an artist. I am intrigued by patterns in nature and fascinated by plants, and not just the obvious ones with large showy flowers.

I study the basic biology of plants, try to understand their structure (anatomy and morphology) and reconstruct their evolutionary history. I have found botanical art an excellent avenue for getting people interested in science. I participate in a “scientists in schools” program. Teaching botanical art has allowed me to incorporate science and mathematics into an otherwise “art” class. I run workshops on plant structure and plant anatomy for scientists and non-scientists (especially artists)- separately!

Redbubble has opened up a range of possibilities for products with my artwork and a way to reach out to a wider audience. At some point I will get around to creating a website dedicated to my artwork, but in the mean while, please send me an email if you would like more information about any of my artwork or would like to purchase the originals or would like to find out about my workshops.
