*_I had set out Sunday evening an hour before sunset to get photos. I am running out of places to go around here and sorta getting tired of revisiting the trees I love to take shots of, so I just drove rather without thinking much about where I was going (was I led? I think so!) I ended up down a way out of the way gravel road I have never been on and rose over the crest of the hill looking out for nice trees on my right to take sunset shots of and noticed movement in the corner of my eye in a paddock on the left. It was this little fella all by himself!!!!_
I pulled the car over and told Fudge to stay put. Jumped out and went over. He was so scared and wary, yet I could tell he needed help. He’d come towards me baaing, but if I made moves towards him he would run off quickly and then stop a little further away and start crying again :( I looked around and there wasn’t a sheep in sight!! He was all alone and with Sunset in less than 30 mins now … if the cold didn’t get him that night I knew the foxes would so I had to get him back to his Mum!!
I have had a scary run-in with a farmer before that has made me very cautious of jumping fences now (sadly) but I didn’t care this time … I was too worried about this little fella, so I got inside the other side of the fence and just stopped. Listened intently. I could hear the rest of the sheep off to my left a LONG way away. So I decided to start rounding the lamb up by walking around behind him and making him walk in that direction. :) Wasn’t easy. LOL He had a huge tendency to want to go right ;) So, walking behind him and with him doing a fair trot we started off :) It took me a good 30 mins (probably a 2km walk with the little fella) and near the end I was practically walking right behind him he was that tired …. but we got to the top of a hill and over the top was the rest of the sheep :) He stopped … listened … heard them … baa’ed …. listened, then started running towards them :) I just stood where I was and watched … waiting to finally see him join up … he went straight to a sheep and started suckling :) :) It was so beautiful!!!! That was the reason I was led down that road on that cold Sunday night … not for a Sunset photo and a nice Tree …. to save a life :) And I felt good :) :) :)*
