TOMBSTONES IN MOONLIGHT

Golden moonlightshimmers on rustling leavesticklinglonging shadowscreeping on hallowed ground.Tombstones, unspoken testimonyof the long gone, stretch through cold air, concrete memoriesfor the windto dance through, whisperingan eternal truthin a foreign tongue.Stand here silentlyand you can heartime passing bywith the dreams that once were, and could have been. Here night touches allequally in the dark, earthbound in flesh and bonesbut finally free from it.Dust to dust,no glamournor cosmetics hereto hide the dead pan faces.Ahh!Life is fullof local heroesand characters bygone,a townin the corner of the Universewhere we live out our dreamsand take themto our resting place.Look! A stranger! No….just the rising sunpassing through.Mind it wipes its feetbefore enteringthis sacred place.

Artist's Description

Wrote this 30+ years ago after a very close friend died in a car accident….aged 20. I think of him from time to time……he was full of life and a love that touched every body who met him…..still miss him.
