Artist's Description

In 1872 President Ulysses S. Grant and the United States Congress worked together to establish America’s first national park, Yellowstone. Since then the national park system has grown to include more than 50 parks and survived over a hundred years of political turmoil. In 2017 the park system was put under attack by politicians, hoping to trade priceless natural beauty for short-term profits.

Unlike many national park designs, which are famous for their two dimensional, simplified designs, this print aims to show the full glowing color and shape of America’s national parks. This print is inspired by old travel posters and paintings by the likes of the great Andrew Bierstadt, which where the first pictures many got to that showed off the wonder and larger-than-life feeling of the North American wilderness.

This print features Lake Haiyaya and Hallet peaks, both popular sites in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park. It was digitally painted by Cosamo Art (Jake Wakefield). Painting is based on a photo taken by NPS/Debra Miller and used under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic License.
