The Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. honors the third President of the United States. It was designed by John Russell Pope and is based on Jefferson’s well-known love of Neoclassical architecture. The Jefferson Memorial is on the National Mall by the Tidal Basin, and is frequently listed as one of the top ten architectural structures in the United States.
This is an early morning photograph of the Jefferson Memorial, taken shortly after sunrise.
