Artist's Description

President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. I was eight years old, and like most people my age and older we will never forget what we were doing when we heard the President had been shot. I learned the news at school as did most children. The Principal came in and solemnly told us, and then the the entire school crammed into the only room with a television, and we watched, confused, saddened, and angry. The coverage of President Kennedy’s death is my earliest recollection of television news, and at that time his funeral was the biggest event to be broadcast live in the history of television. Those of us who saw it shall never forget it. There was no school that day, my Dad stayed home from work, and we all sat in the family room and watched the most elaborate and stately Presidential funeral the United States has ever had. This is a photograph of the slained President’s grave site in Arlington National Cemetery.

This photograph is “as is” from the camera, there was no post processing.

Thank you to the groups “Alphabet Soup”, “Canon DSLR” and “History” for featuring this photograph
