Artist's Description

During the summer I try and spend an hour or two every day at the swimming pool at the Washington Hilton, where I enjoy doing my laps or just playing in the water, or lounging under the sun and reading or sleeping. It is a very lovely and peaceful place. I have lived in Washington, D.C. for 25 years and have always been in and out of the Washington Hilton on a regular basis because it is so close to where I live. But I am always mindful of its place in history, especially when I am in the swimming pool area, which is less than fifty yards from the easily visible site of where former President Ronald Reagan was shot on March 30, 1981. On one of my visits to the swimming pool I took this photograph of the hotel while pointing my camera in the direction of where President Reagan was shot, but I focused skyward instead of downward because I did not want to capture the actual site.

Thank you to the group “ImageWriting” for featuring this photograph.
