Artist's Description

Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States, and served from 1801 to 1809. This bust of Jefferson was made by Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1789, and is in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. (Jefferson helped establish the Library of Congress in 1800, and 6,487 of his personal books made up the original collection of the library.)
