Artist's Description

This is one of those shots where looking to the horizon sometimes doesn’t work. It was taken from Eagle Rock, Pappersalli (a location a few Kms from Almora Northern India in the Himalayan foothills). I was on Eagle Rock at dawn hoping for a couple of good shots of Ananda Devi on the horizon (no more than 80 Km away). Pappersalli is at about 2000 metres elevation. The Asian smokey atmosphere defeated any chance of a good shot of the mountains. I looked down a bit dejected and saw this image. I like the flow of the rock and the trail below it. Realised that these trails needed to be featured. Little kids walking up and down them all day with big loads on their heads. A true village highway.

Sorry about the relatively small size of the shot. It was scanned in from a slide.
