Artist's Description

Mt Edith Hut with the sheep musterers and their dogs surrounded by deep snow.

This wonderful photo was taken by a farm worker on Orari Gorge Station near Geraldine. His name was Win Bennett and he worked on the station and surrounding back country hills in the 1930’s as a young man before heading off to war in WW2.

On his return he didn’t take up the camera again so his collection of photographs of early station life here in South Canterbury, New Zealand is very special and only being viewed now as they have been sitting in his family photo album for all these years.

I have been fortunate to be given the job of scanning this collection and preserving them for the family and other interested people before the photos are passed on to the museum for their archives.

Photo just scanned and uploaded as is without any editing or any restoration work done yet.
