Douglas Malcolm Rillo

Your golden locks started falling.
Your lean runner’s body slipped away.
But never once did you say, “Why,”
“Why me?”

Your body grew weaker,
Your heart only grew stronger.
Inspiring the lives of all those around you.

For one year,
You put up the fight of all fights.
Never once letting the horrible disease bring you down.

Always with a smile,
You said things would be okay.
We all knew though,
You were slowly slipping away

Your beautiful, strong, caring heart stopped beating.
With tears rapidly filling our eyes,
We were all forced to say our painful goodbyes.

So long it has been,
since you were laid to your final rest.
No a day has gone by without thinking of you.
Or the heartbreaking smile always on your face.

Everyday we remember
All you accomplished in the short time you had.
We remember your laugh,
Always followed by more.

We remember you
For all that you were.
And all that you are.
An inspiration
To all of us.
Forever.

You touched more lives,
In your twenty-one years
Than you will ever know.

For as long as we live,
You will never be forgotten.
And more and more each day,
We miss you Dougie.
