Artist's Description

Image taken of “Gold Hll” in Shaftesbury, Dorset, UK during the Gold Hill Fair , which was held over two days 7th & 8th of July 2012 when a carnival style event takes over the town and the local people dress in traditional period clothing, featuring local craftspeople, dancing and music along with plenty of food tasting as well.

The Gold Hill Fair, which raises money for local charities, is an annual event, named after the famous street.

Gold Hill is the ancient cobbled street which runs beside the walls of King Alfred’s Abbey (now ruins). This steep street is lined with thatched and tiled cottages and looks out across the lovely Blackmore Vale.
