"My Beautiful calm"

The sky seems to unfold itself, as if in anger. No noise, just brilliant flashes of light. Flashes of light, miles into the air. Some, in a jagged haste, cut out into the horizon. The flashes light my pen, and my little boat. I have come here to watch the show, the spectacle that mother nature performs at her leisure. The water is so calm, unaware of the approaching rage. My small craft simply turns and rocks in the late summer breeze.
I watch as each bolt reaches me, by way of reflection. Each flash is mimicked by the mirror-like surface of the dark water. Calm is so priceless. But this calm, it sits next to chaos. Confusion for someone, somewhere else. Right now, this is my boat, my lake, and my calm. My beautiful calm.
