"Come and Lie Beside Me"

Come and lie beside me, for I need your comfort now.
My eyes are growing dark, and my heart is slowing.
It’s your warmth, that gives me strength.
The strength I need to see.
I don’t ask for conversation, or words of encouragement.
Just take my hand, and let me know that you are there.
That’s enough to keep me reaching for another day.
The pain of life has stricken me, and holds me in it’s grip.
The stress and anger follow suit, as the weight tightens around my shoulders.
All I need from you, is a simple smile.
Just a smile that lets my know that someone’s day has gone better than mine.
Just maybe, a bright eye, and a small laugh, to help me forget my pain.
I get so tired sometimes.
I just want to sleep- and never wake up.
Just curl up in bed- and never wake up.
Would you lie beside me?
Being together is so much better than being alone.
Tell me about your day, so that I may wish it were mine.
I wish that we could have a day together.
Just one day, you and me.
I think that would solve all of my problems.
At least for a little while.
My mind and heart forget to hurt when I hear your voice.
So please, don’t stop talking.
I wish our time together was forever.
Because I don’t want to remember the pressure.
I’ll remember you, even when it hurts.
But while you’re here, please,
Come and lie beside me.

Artist's Description

This writing is a combination of things. It contains some bit of myself in it, and feelings experienced during loss. The other part is a perspective of how we never know who out there among us, is on their own ledge.
