Roses are my passion!

Featured in High Quality Images on 08.06.2012.

I took some photos of dying roses the other day, intending to use them in an image similar to those Rosalie Dale makes from time to time.

A rusted sheet of metal I dec8ided to use as the base image:

and a texture from SkeletalMess:

When I went to open one of the pics I had taken for this purpose, i couldn’t find them – I’ve spent three days looking for them! Grrrrrr!

I gave up looking and went looking for another rose which might look good for what I had in mind – I decided to try using a photo of a buch of roses I’d bought last year:

I opened the rust photo and duplicated it. I then opened the SkeletalMess texture and dragged it onto the rust layer. I changed its Blending Mode to Hard Light.

Next I opened the rose image and dragged it onto the top of the SkeletalMess layer, and changed its Blending Mode to Luminosity. Wow, what a difference that Blending Mode made to it!

Next, I dragged the SkeletalMess texture onto the roses again and reduced the Fill to 40%.

Lastly, I increased the physical dimensions and the PPI to give me an image which is 250% larger than what I started with. I saved it as a .jpg for posting.

Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy it. All comments are much appreciated.

The rose and rust photos taken with a Pentax K100d, and a Sigma 28 – 80 mm lens. All work done in PS CS3.
