The Australian War Horse

These horses are strong
Hardly putting a foot wrong,
This scene has gone on for way too long,
Everything is so very wrong.

The ground is stony
A brave small horse not quite a pony,
Trying to be brave and not so phony,
Wishing he had a crony.

Bullets flying every where
A misty blood smell is in the air,
Young troops still really boys hang on to their bears,
Hiding in ditches like it is their own secret lair.

Galloping through fields of mines,
Careful not to cross the enemy’s lines,
Treading carefully hoping not to tread on any mines,
It is hard with out the help of k9s.

Chestnut to bay,
Horses galloping to victory, it’s nearly may,
With the captain saying ‘I say
At least we will get a little pay’

While the horses rear,
The troops are wishing for some beer,
Whipped out the enemy out for now so they cheer,
Going home is near.

Where this horse is there is no such thing as a law,
Troops’ wishing there was no more,
Fighting with the Australian Army Corps,
The Stock Horse was a big part in the great world war
