How Did the Moon Feel?

How did the moon feel walked on for the first time?
Happy for the company I’m sure.
But how did it feel when it’s new found companions had to go?
Sad I’m sure.
How did it feel when it realized it was the only thing bright enough to light up a stormy sky?
Lonely I’m sure.
How did it feel when they began to dig away at its surface for clues to life existence?
Violated I’m sure.
How does it feel-alone up there in that massive nothingness?
Scared I’m sure.
How does it feel knowing that it’s wonderful
but over time having no one look up and appreciate it anymore?
Unworthy I’m sure.

Well moon I appreciate you more than:

A shooting star that lights up my eyes
More than the sweet smell of spring when the wind blows by
More than the snow on my face in wintertime
More than the lights of Christmas and the bells that chime
More than a fountain that cries as much as I do
More than a mountain that over time has changed into something new
More than the feel of the sand when it meets the sea
More than the kindness of the strangers I meet
More than the joy of laughing aloud
More than the way you feel when you’re proud
More than the smile you get when you’re blue
Don’t feel alone-I love you
