Artist's Description

An open-print edition of a pen and ink drawing. The Swamp Iris or Blue Flag Iris, (Iris virginica shrevei) is still a common sight in the wet low-ground forests swamps and open marshes of northern Illinois and Indiana, but you’ve got to know where to look . They have showy flowers that are insect pollinated, a trait unusual for our marsh plants that seem to prefer to use the wind and to conserve their resources for leaf and root growth. These irises were sketched in a swamp in northern Illinois
