The Bridge....

Last night I had a dream, and in it there was a pristine white bridge. It rested over a crystal blue creek with gleaming silver stones. Pink Jasmine grew over the edges, with hints of its perfume carrying on a slight breeze. I yearned to have a closer look, so I took a couple steps when a remarkably chill wind stopped me in my tracks.

In my peripheral vision, I glimpsed movement on my right. A little old woman stepped into my view, a reassuring smile on her sweet face. On her arm she carried a basket, on which lay a bunch of long-stemmed red roses. She apologized for startling me, and offered me one of her roses. I told her it was okay, but she insisted I take one.

Thanking her for the rose, I took her hand in gratitude. Her hand was warm and gentle. As I looked into her beautiful hazel eyes I felt such an amazing feeling of familiarity. She no longer appeared as a stranger to me, but as someone I knew I could trust.

As we stood there holding hands, it was as if time and everything else just seemed to stop. The moment was broken in an instant when we heard a loud crashing sound emanate from an oak tree near the bridge. The next thing I knew, a very large tree limb hurtled to the ground.

It was right where I might have been standing if I hadn’t met my little hazel-eyed friend! I couldn’t help but think what perfect timing the Lord has! As I turned to tell my little friend how the Lord was certainly watching over me today, I realized she wasn’t there! Where’d she go? It was as if she just disappeared!

For some reason my attention was pulled back up to the tree. There pausing in mid-air with soft billowy white wings was my little old hazel-eyed woman! She smiled and told me to always believe in God’s perfect timing and that all things do happen according to His plan. She said she was sent by God to keep me from harm’s way, and to remind me that there are no greater gifts than His love and protection.

I awoke in the light of His truth….

Hebrews 1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
