The bald eagles are back at Fern Ridge Lake for the winter. This young immature “Bald Eagle Takes Off “ from its perch in a tall cottonwood tree he/she is about three or four years old. In its fifth year it will be of breeding age and get the white head & tail feathers that makes it the majestic American Bald Eagle we love so much.
I took these pictures on Jan 10 at Richardson Park Wildlife area near Fern Ridge Lake in Lane County, Oregon, using my trusty Canon EOS 50D, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6l IS USM Lens, set at 1/150sec., F 5.66, ISO 640, Focal length 400mm to capture this shot.
