Artist's Description

I took this picture of a rare “Albino Bullfrog Tadpole” in a pond on the Fern Ridge Wildlife – East Coyote Unit while shooting dragonflies last summer. Its new legs had formed and it was stating to lose its tail to become a bullfrog. There were a lot of regular colored dark green tadpoles and some young bull frogs in the pond but this was the only white (albino) one I saw. I went back a week later to find that the pond had dried up. They must have migrated to one of the other ponds in the refuge.

Taken in Lane County, Oregon on August 27, 2008
