Artist's Description

Collage (extract) on card, wallpapers, photostat, found object, wire & gold paper. 2mx0.5m.

Pre-WW1 palimpsest for my Irish great grandmother before immigrating to Australia, borrowing images of Cate Blanchet in the movie Charlotte Gray.

The paring down of statement and imagery to an abstract capture of minimal grace. Tonally the requirement was necessary as was the spatial arrangements. It reads a bit like musical notation to a build up of the whole piece, as tragedy. [In the face of Death spying on humanity, etching its way throughout history, as heritage is the only trace]. Part of the conceptual work on The Weight of Responsibilty of Heritage on each succeeding generation. 2008.
