Mariazell Pilgrimage Basilica viewed from the entrance.
Margrave Henry from Moravia was the first prominent pilgrim to the place Mariazell in Austria and King Louis of Hungary donated the valuable picture of the Madonna after a victorious battle. He is connected with the building of the first Gothic church. Both feature as leaden figures at the main entrance of the church.
This church was extended to its final form in the period of the Baroque during 1644-1704, according to the plans of Domenico Sciassia
