Heart Songs (A Missional Pursuit)

I want to label the strings of my heart.
So that when someone tugs them, I can tell the sounds apart.
I want the songs my community creates to be amplified.
Until my heart only plays songs of love, I will not be satisifed.
I need to know which strings form tears and which ones bring laughter.
I want to find the chords that glorify God and make those the ones I go after.
I will surround myself with people who have an assortment of labels in their heart.
I will find the ones who haven’t marked theirs yet-
maybe I can help them tell the tugs apart.

Maybe I can elicit a response in hearts that are worn and tired.
Maybe I can learn to understand hearts that are differently wired.
Maybe I can see the beauty of God by getting to know the people He created.
Maybe I can fill my heart with His love until I can’t hear the strings I labeled “hatred”.
Maybe all the walls that divide us are actually just unfinished bridges waiting for Divine construction.
Maybe we really are His tools and we just need to seek His instruction.

I want to label the strings of my heart.
So that when Jesus strums them, I know it is time for another Mission to start.
This is the beginning of a Church that exists outside the building walls.
This is being Missional- listening for when His time calls.
When I am called to action, I will not look back
I am not Lot’s wife, I have been given a gift of faith that is bigger than that.

Artist's Description

I have been learning a lot this year about what it means to be “Missional” in my Faith. I have seen the amazing movement that is created when we allow our Faith to literally move us! This is about that.
