Artist's Description

Dungeness was one of the largest homes on the east coast of the U.S. in the late 1800’s. Built by Lucy and Thomas Carnegie, I felt the overwhelming desire to try to create it as it was before the fire in 1959 when it burned almost to the ground.
From my photos of the ruins standing in front of it, I studied how the light affects the ashlar stone, to the few black and white references, there was little to go on. Knowing the end result would be worth creating how it must have looked between 1905 and 1950.
The National Park Service now opperates and protects the Cumberland Island National Seashore, and has some of my prints for sale. With quite a history, it’s a treasure for us all to want to preserve and protect.
